About
Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West features regularly changing exhibits of Western and Native American art and artifacts, entertaining events, and informative programs that bring the West’s history and heritage to life. Featured historic and contemporary artists include Frederic Remington, Charles M. Russell, Maynard Dixon, Joe Beeler, John Coleman, and numerous Hopi master potters including Nampeyo of Hano, her daughters, and other descendants. Western film poster art is also on exhibit.
The museum is owned by the City of Scottsdale and managed and operated by Scottsdale Museum of the West, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. It relies upon private support including tax-deductible contributions, memberships, exhibition and program sponsorships, and private hosting of events to fund its operation. The museum works in partnership with Experience Scottsdale.
The Smithsonian Affiliate is located one block west of Scottsdale Road and half a block south of the Main Street galleries at First Street and North Marshall Way.
